UK-based production company Plug-in Media has inked a deal with CBeebies to expand its digital IP Tee and Mo into a new 2D-animated TV series.
Aimed at children ages three to five, the new Tee and Mo series (50 x seven minutes) follows the daily activities of monkey mom, Mo, and fun-loving son, Tee. The series will be directed by Dominic Minns and executive produced by Juliet Tzabar, both from Plug-in Media.
The preschool brand already has a digital presence on CBeebies, with 10 interstitials and 10 games launched on the CBeebies site in 2013. Since then, the interstitials have amassed over one million views on BBC iPlayer.
As Plug-in Media’s first original project, Tee and Mo also marks the company’s first steps into linear TV production. The series was acquired for CBeebies by channel controller Kay Benbow and Jackie Edwards, executive producer, animation and acquisitions.
CBeebies has also signed on to expand the IP’s digital presence. Over the next two years, the kidnet will add new Tee and Mo content to CBeebies’ online platforms, including its website, YouTube channel, online radio and Storytime app.
