Outfit7, the company behind Talking Tom and Friends, has announced that its verbose tomcat has racked up two billion downloads—and he also has a first movie in the works.

Working with Mythology Entertainment, Outfit7 will bring Talking Tom and Friends to the big screen in a fully animated or live-action/animated movie to be produced by William Sharek and Mythology co-founders Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt, with Outfit7 founder Samo Login as executive producer.

The first Talking Tom app rolled out in 2010, and the franchise has since extended to include 14 apps with over 230 million monthly users. With a movie  and CGI animated series in the offing, Outfit7 is expanding Talking Tom’s L&M program with a raft of new licensees.

In the US and Canada, t-shirt maker Lotty Dotty will create a range of Talking Tom and Friends apparel and accessories. And super-fans will also be able to customize t-shirts with their favorites characters, thanks to a deal brokered by Bulldog Licensing. Meanwhile, AST License has come aboard to produce a branded monthly magazine, and additional deals in the region will see new lines of back-to-school and paper products, apparel, accessories, stationery, puzzles and traditional board games hitting the market soon.
