Mattel-owned HIT Entertainment is building up its content portfolio with new CG-animated TV series for Little People and Bob the Builder.

The new Bob the Builder series will be delivered in 2015, with deals already in place to air on UK’s Channel 5 Milkshake!, PBS Kids in the US, and Super RTL in Germany. In addition to the return of the main characters, the show will add several new faces, such as Leo the apprentice, Mayor Maria Madison, and members of the youth sports club The Spring City Rockets. A few new vehicles will also be added to the fleet, such as the heavy-lifting low-loader truck Two Tonne and the tower crane named Tiny.

Little People

Based on the famous Fisher Price brand, Little People is a brand new series (52 x 11-minute eps) produced out of HIT’s UK content hub with Halifax, Canada-based DHX Media providing the CG animation. The preschool series led by producer Rick Siggelkow (Shining Time Station, Noddy) and head writer David Steven Cohen (Peg & Cat, Arthur) is slated for a late 2015 release with a particular focus on imagination and group play. After first hitting store shelves back in 1959, Fisher Price Little People toys are part of the 2014 group of finalists for induction into the Toy Hall of Fame.

In addition to the new content, Mattel announced a new global content distribution team structure for its major brands consolidated under the HIT Entertainment division. At the helm of the distribution strategy and direction for the team will be Edward Catchpole. Joining him will be HIT Entertainment VP Sid Mathur, who will be responsible for global content distribution oversight; Alison Homewood, VP, content distribution, UK & EMEA; Claudia Balzer Scott-Hansen, group director, broadcast distribution for the Americas; Andrea Carpenter, group director, home entertainment for North America; Simon Riches, senior manager, home entertainment for the UK & EMEA; Henry Hsiao, senior director, marketing and digital media, for global emerging media; and Bryce Inoyue, business head, for all content distribution in Asia.
