October 16, 2014

Charlie Brown and the gang will be starring in a new set of apps from New York-based mobile studio Cupcake Digital, which has partnered with Peanuts Worldwide to develop a range of apps featuring the iconic Peanuts characters.

The first release under the digital publishing partnership will be a set of enhanced storybook apps. Aimed at kids three to seven, as well as tweens, the first eBook app comes with activities based on the classic “Kick the Football” storyline. It’s slated for release next month, to leverage the brand’s strong ties with the holiday season.

All apps (US$1.99 to US$2.99) will be available at the Apple App Store, the Amazon Appstore for Android and Google Play, as well as Nook and Nabi devices.

Peanuts Worldwide is a joint-venture formed in 2010 by Iconix Brand Group and the family members of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz. The venture, owned 80% by Iconix and 20% by members of the Schulz family, is refreshing the brand with new digital media initiatives and an upcoming CG-animated Peanuts film, set to hit US theaters on November 6, 2015.
