Warner Bros. announced on Monday the name of its recently created digital production unit, Blue Ribbon Content, and unveiled its first slate of development projects.

Blue Ribbon Content will produce all of Warner Bros.’ short-form content moving forward. The division is headed by Sam Register, who took charge of the studio’s digital development and production efforts in April when he was named president of Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series. Blue Ribbon’s senior management team also includes Andrew Mellett, SVP of distribution and strategy, who oversees its financial operations and business affairs.

The first production from the division, the Veronica Mars spin-off Play It Again, Dick (CW Seed), premiered last month on CW Seed in the US and CTV Extend in Canada.

Blue Ribbon’s development slate features original concepts, as well as new shows based on IP from the Warner Bros. vaults, including an adaptation of the cult film franchise Critters and multiple projects featuring DC Comics characters, including Reginald Hudlin’s (House Party) live-action version of Static Shock, featuring the African American superhero Static (pictured), and a virtual reality experience based on Batman: The Animated Series. Last month, the division announced it had greenlit Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, which is being produced by Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett for Machinima.

Other Blue Ribbon series in development include the horror/thriller Ouroboros from producer Akiva Goldsman (Paranormal Activity) and the comedies RejecTED, Ginger Snaps and Golden Revenge. It is also working with Warner Bros. Interactive Group on an untitled Mortal Kombat series to premiere in conjunction with the release of the Mortal Kombat X video game in April 2015.
