Discovery Consumer Products has partnered with toymakers DGL and RMS to develop new product lines for the Discovery Kids brand that encourage science learning and exploration.

DGL is set to manufacture a line of toys and games featuring DIY science and experiment kits (circuit and build kits, salt water and solar-powered vehicles); wood, foam and metal puzzles, with and without motorization; clay and fun-dough; sand sets; foam blasters and launchers; and novelty items (gliders, voice changers and pocket volcanoes).

RMS, meanwhile, is working on a line of core science sets (crystal growing, rock tumblers and volcano kits); crime scene investigation detective sets; magic, dig and discover kits; spa bath sets; elastic, balloon and water-motion vehicles; metal building sets; and arts and crafts materials.

Both lines are expected to launch at North American retailers next summer, ranging from US$2.99 to US $29.99.

The deals were brokered by Discovery Kids’ North American licensing agent Big Tent Entertainment and follow Discovery Communications’ launch of Discovery Consumer Products earlier this year.
