Moscow-based animation studio Wizart Animation has secured new deals for its kids and family features The Snow Queen, The Snow Queen 2, and Sheep and Wolves at the American Film Market.
Wizart’s 2012 3D stereoscopic feature The Snow Queen, based on a classic fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen and co-produced with Bazelevs and Inlay Film, has been picked up by Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic for its Discovery Kids network across the region (excluding Brazil) for broadcast this December.
Distributor Transformer acquired the rights for its sequel, The Snow Queen 2, for all of Japan, and the Bazelevs co-produced film will have a limited theatrical release in the country next spring.
Both movies will also be seen in Indonesia, thanks to a deal by OneVision Entertainment.
To date, The Snow Queen has been released in 70 countries worldwide including the US, the UK and much of Europe. This year, it will launch in Malaysia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria, with DVDs expected for Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Indonesia.
The Snow Queen 2 is currently in production and will be released this December by Signature Entertainment in Russia, CIS, Poland, Baltic States, South Korea, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, the Middle East and the UK, with a world premiere expected for December 12.
Additional countries including China, Malaysia, Israel and Turkey plan to release the feature in 2015.
Rounding out the deals, Wizart also sold the rights to its original Sheep and Wolves movie (co-produced by CTB) to Rialto Distribution for a 2015 release in Australia and New Zealand.
