In a move to match kids’ increasingly mobile media consumption habits, Corus Entertainment is launching a series of TV Everywhere apps for its kids channels (Treehouse, YTV, Teletoon) this spring.

Available on iOS and Android to subscribers of linear cable services that carry the Corus channels  in Canada, the apps allow viewers to download eps or stream series like Dora and FriendsMike the Knight (pictured), SpongeBob Square Pants and Adventure Time.

Preschool net Treehouse gets the first app launch this spring, with planned YTV and Teletoon apps to follow. (A French-language version of The Teletoon app will also be made available.)

Key features of the new apps include download-to-go, parental controls and interactive environments. They’ve been built using You.i Engine software, developed by Ottawa-based startup You.i TV.

Further roll outs of the app for additional digital platforms are planned for the coming months.
