The Nickelodeon Group has named Viacom vet David Katz as its new SVP of content relations.
Katz, who previously served as Viacom’s VP of global corporate responsibility, will now report to Nickelodeon Group president of content Russell Hicks.
Working from the network’s animation studio in Burbank, Katz is tasked with leading a range of key initiatives and strategic priorities to drive Nickelodeon’s creative excellence. He’ll also oversee the Talent Outreach team that’s responsible for retaining, attracting and developing Nickelodeon’s creative talent.
In his last remit, Katz led Viacommunity, the company’s umbrella of philanthropic investments, strategic partnerships and corporate responsibility projects. He also launched Viacommunity Brand Solutions, an impact accelerator for brand partners and organizations.
Starting his career at Viacom as a Nickelodeon summer associate in the talent & casting group, Katz moved up the ladder to hold roles in talent management, including overseeing Blue’s Clues at Nick Jr. Prior to that, he worked at Clear Channel Entertainment in creative development and as chief of staff for Barry Diller, chairman at IAC/InterActiveCorp.
