New L.A.-based sports and entertainment company Day 6 Sports Group, founded this year by ex-Mattel and Spin Master execs, has teamed up with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to relaunch classic video game franchise Backyard Sports.

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is signing on as the face of the Backyard Sports Basketball line. He’s the first NBA player to ink an endorsement deal with the franchise. More sports stars are expected to join the digitally refreshed property that was acquired by Day 6 Sports earlier this year.

Backyard Sports NBA Basketball is set for release in spring 2015, with additional mobile games for smartphones and tablets to follow.

Launched in 1997, Backyard Sports is a series of digital games starring kid versions of pro athletes. Since its debut, the franchise has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide across multiple sports titles.
