Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is now extending the reach of Tiny Pop. The preschool channel, part of SPT’s earlier acquisition of CSC Media Group, will be available on UK digital terrestrial platform Freeview on January 7.
Aimed at kids ages three to seven, Tiny Pop’s programming lineup includes shows like My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot. It joins POP—Sony Pictures’ older kids channel—which is already available on the platform.
Set for daily broadcast on Freeview, Tiny Pop originally launched on satellite in 2004. It’s now also available on Sky, Virgin and Freesat.
SPT picked up POP, Tiny Pop and boy-targeted Kix as a part of the CSC Media buy. The deal added 16 channels to its portfolio, bumping SPT Networks to the fifth-largest cable, satellite and multichannel player in the UK market, measured in commercial ad views.
Sony Pictures Television Networks entered the UK in 2011 with one channel feed—Sony Entertainment Television. Its portfolio now includes 26 channel feeds across multiple platforms and reaches a combined total of roughly 25 million viewers per month.
