Continuing to bolster its international TV portfolio, Viacom International Media Networks is rolling out three new 24-hour channels in the Middle East—Nickelodeon HD, Nick Jr. and MTV Live—through pay-TV network OSN.
Launching on January 5, the new channels represent a major move on Viacom’s part into the Middle East and North Africa.
Both Nickelodeon HD and Nick Jr. will be available on OSN in two languages, English and Arabic. On the digital front, the channels will also be accessible via OSN Play, the carrier’s online viewing platform that lets users stream or watch shows on-demand.
While Nick content has been available in the region via a longstanding branded block with MBC3, the new 24-hour channels increase Viacom’s presence in the Middle East, especially among key younger demos.
A dedicated Nick website and an exclusive Nick app will also roll out in the market, and VIMN’s Dubai Media City team is taking over the production of Nickelodeon HD, making it the only international kids TV channel available in Arabic and produced in MENA exclusively for OSN.
Aimed at kids ages seven to 14, Nickelodeon HD’s lineup is chock-full of channel standards like SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Breadwinners, Henry Danger and Sanjay & Craig. For preschoolers, the new Nick Jr. feed will showcase series like Dora and Friends, Paw Patrol and Blaze and the Monster Machines.
Viacom also recently launched Nickelodeon4Teen in France, a new multiplatform channel for kids and teens.
