Cartoon Network has acquired global broadcast rights to Hasbro Studios’ brand new Transformers: Robots in Disguise series, and it will begin airing the next chapter in the franchise later this year.
The action-adventure series is set to launch on Cartoon Network channels in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, following the US premiere this year.
Cartoon Network secured US broadcast rights to Transformers: Robots in Disguise this past October after Discovery/Hasbro kidsnet The Hub rebranded as Discovery Family.
Picking up after the final events of animated series Transformers Prime, the new chapter follows the exploits of Bumblebee, who is chosen by Optimus Prime to lead a ragtag team of young Autobots into battle against a new faction of evil Decepticons that is threatening Earth.
Robots in Disguise will feature the franchise’s signature humor and adventure, but in a cooler, lighter and brighter style.
The Transformers franchise celebrated its 30th anniversary last year and debuted its fourth movie instalment, Transformers: Age of Extinction. The property’s consumer products program also continues to do well for Hasbro’s boys division.
