UK pubcaster CBBC has ordered a second season of Leopard Drama’s popular adventure/drama Eve. The female-led homegrown series will begin production in Scotland this summer.

Written and co-created by long-time BBC children’s writer Emma Reeves (Tracy Beaker Returns, The Dumping Ground and Young Dracula), the high-concept 13 x half hour second season is expected to air in early 2016.

CBBC Controller Cheryl Taylor secured the commission, which also includes a Christmas special set to broadcast this December.

The series, which debuted on CBBC in January and currently airs on Monday afternoons, follows the adventures of sentient robot Eve who struggles to make sense of human life as a teenager living with a suburban family.

Reeves co-created Eve with Blacklisted Films’ creative director David Chikwe (Lionsgate’s The Holding, BBC’s Missing). Series one was produced by Leopard Drama’s head of development Jez Swimer (Five Days, The 39 Steps) and season two will see Swimer produce with Peter Gallagher.

CBBC’s Sue Nott and Leopard Drama’s Ruth Caleb will both serve as executive producers on season two.

After three years in development, Eve is Leopard Drama’s first drama commission from CBBC.

Leopard Drama is a division of indie producer Argonon, which has headquarters in London, New York, Glasgow and Vancouver, and was formed by Leopard Films CEO James Burstall in 2011.
