Paris, France-based Technicolor has secured several European broadcasting deals for the new CG-animated series The Deep from Australia’s A Stark Production and recent DHX Media acquisition Nerd Corps Entertainment in Canada.

Broadcasters picking up the 26 x half-hour series based on Tom Taylor’s popular graphic novel series of the same name include Ketnet (Belgium), NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden) and YLE (Finland).

They join existing international broadcast partners ABC3 and The Seven Network in Australia and Germany’s Super RTL.

Currently in production, The Deep targets kids six to 12 and follows the adventures of a family of underwater explorers, the Nektons, who live aboard a state-of-the-art submarine, the Aronnax, while exploring the deepest recesses of the Earth’s oceans.

Bestselling Australian comic book author and playwright Taylor (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, Star Wars: Blood Ties) serves as head writer of the series, with The Deep‘s illustrator James Brouwer (Justice League Beyond) leading art direction.

Technicolor is the exclusive international distributor for the series (excluding Canada, Australia and New Zealand) and also holds global licensing and merchandising rights for The Deep.
