The life of Little League World Series hero and triple threat American athlete Mo’ne Davis will be chronicled in an original movie for Disney Channel entitled Throw Like Mo.

Currently in development, the movie will follow the inspiring story of the 13-year-old baseball star who in August 2014 as a member of the Philadelphia Taney Dragons became the first female ever to pitch a shutout in the Little League World Series.

Davis was also the first-ever Little League player to make the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Debra Martin Chase (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Disney Channel’s The Cheetah Girls movies) will serve as the movie’s executive producer, and Davis will consult on the production with support from espnW, which has covered the athlete’s life extensively.

Writing duties on Throw Like Mo are being handled by Sheldon Candis and Justin Wilson who both worked on LUV and A Slave in the White House.

Davis, who hails from Philadelphia, also excels at soccer and basketball and one day hopes to play in the WNBA.

The development project comes as Disney Channel continues an impressive ratings run in the original movie category, delivering TV’s number-one original movie telecast among tweens for 13-consecutive years.
