Toronto, Canada-based Breakthrough Entertainment is adding two new science-based kids series to its distribution catalog, following broadcast deals with Canuck pubcaster TVO.
TVOKids has picked up Science Max: Experiments at Large, produced by Breakthrough Entertainment. Phil McCordic, a one-time kids TV on-air host and producer at TVO, is hosting the series that super-sizes scientific experiments normally restricted to the classroom lab.
The Breakthrough/McCordic collaboration for TVOKids follows McCordic’s turn as creator and showrunner of his first series Zerby Derby, also produced by the Breakthrough.
The company has also picked up another new TVO series for distribution from Toronto-based prodco Riverbank Pictures―factual live-actioner Sports Lab, which focuses on the science of sports.
Sports Lab is hosted by Nykeem Provo, who meets kids and pros from varied sports as everyone discovers science is very much present in sports.
Breakthrough will be shopping both Science Max: Experiments at Large and Sports Lab to international broadcasters at MIPTV next week.
Sports Lab will debut on June 22 on TVO in Canada at 6:30 p.m. ET, with repeats on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. and Sundays at 12 p.m.
