Inspired by The Walt Disney Company’s commitment to healthy living, Disney Channel UK & Ireland has greenlit a new live-action cooking show starring chef Michel Roux Jr.
Produced by fellow chef Jamie Oliver’s prodco Fresh One Productions, First Class Chefs will be co-presented by The Evermoor Chronicles stars Georgia Lock and Finney Cassidy (both pictured). Filming for the nine x 22-minute series begins this spring and the show makes its debut this summer.
First Class Chefs will see teams of two students ages nine to 11 from schools across the UK battle it out to convert a school canteen into a fully-functioning pop-up restaurant. There will also be US$15,227 (£10,000) up for grabs for the winning team to fund a healthy living-related project for their school.
The show follows the students through four rounds, where tasks include menu selection, buying and cooking. In the finale, the two remaining teams will face off as they serve 50 hungry diners.
