Miami-headquartered Spanish-language network Vme TV is set to launch math-focused UMIGO videos and appisodes, from WTTW Chicago National Productions and DHX Media, for 24/7 US sister channel Vme Kids.
The deal for 20 three-minute music videos, eight nine-minute appisodes and one eight-minute short marks the first time UMIGO’s educational online content will be available for broadcast in Spanish.
Vme Kids stations across the US will carry the exclusive Spanish-language content and also make it available for streaming on www.vmetv.com.
Partly funded by a US Department of Education Ready to Learn grant, UMIGO (You Make It Go) is currently available online at www.umigo.com and in more than 70 US children’s museums and libraries.
With creative leadership from DHX Media and UMIGO’s chief content officer and executive producer Tina Peel, UMIGO helps early elementary school-age children acquire math skills and problem-solving abilities through animated stories, music videos and games featuring the IP’s animated characters Bean, Bit and Dizzy.
The site includes free, downloadable at-home activities for kids, parents and educators and all of UMIGO’s content is aligned with the Common Core Standards for Mathematics for first and second grades.
Vme TV currently reaches more than 70 million US households in 43 markets via PBS stations and DIRECTV, DISH Network, AT&TU-verse, and major cable companies including Comcast.
