Disney Junior has ordered a second season of its hit science-themed intergalactic adventure series Miles from Tomorrowland.

Since its Disney Channel premiere on February 6, the show has been this year’s number-one series across US preschool nets in total viewers for kids and boys ages two to five, according to Nielsen ratings.

Produced by Wild Canary Films, in association with Disney Junior, the series encourages science and technology learning and follows the story of Miles Callisto (Cullen McCarthy) and his family, including ship captain mom (Olivia Munn) and mechanical engineer dad (Tom Kenny), as they journey to new galaxies.

Miles from Tomorrowland is created and executive produced by Sascha Paladino (Henry Hugglemonster) and features recurring guest stars including Mark Hamill (Star Wars) as Gadfly, George Takei (Star Trek) as Spectryx, and Bill Nye (Bill Nye the Science Guy) as Professor Rubicon.

The show’s consultants include experts from NASA, the Space Tourism Society and Google.

On the consumer products side of the brand, a full line of toys, role-play items, home décor and apparel will roll out at mass retailers across the US this summer.

Disney Publishing Worldwide has also launched learning-focused storybooks, illustrated books, activity books and enhanced eBooks based on the IP and a Miles from Tomorrowland: Missions app for iOS and Android devices which debuted in late January.
