American Greetings Properties has mapped out the next digital extension for its Care Bears brand, with six brand-new apps slated to launch through 2015.

Continuing the Care Bear’s expansion in the digital space, the new apps span entertainment, interactive storybooks, comic books and games.

Kicking off the mobile rollout, digital publisher Lion Forge is set to launch interactive comic books in June. Available on all platforms, the digital comic books will complement physical goods slated to hit specialty retailers in 2016.

In July, a new partnership with Boston-based digital entertainment company Bare Tree Media will see Care Bears emoticons, stickers and themes launched within messenger apps like Blackberry Messenger, BOND and Viber.

In August, the Care Bears’ first appisode, Care Bear-a-Thon, rolls out with Palo Alto’s startup Plumzi. The second appisode, In a Flash, launches in October.

Rounding out the list, publisher PlayDate Digital will begin releasing Care Bears digital storybooks this fall. The first, Sleepytime: Rise and Shine, will include three new Care Bears-inspired songs.

With more than 11.5 million downloads on the App Store and Google Play, as well as five million views on its YouTube channel, the Care Bears continue to build their digital presence.

The first Care Bears TV series first ran from 1985 to 1988 and is currently available to watch on Netflix. Last November, AGP announced new original series Care Bears & Cousins. It is co-produced by Netflix and slated for a global premiere this fall.
