Iconic martial arts star and actor Jackie Chan is returning to toons with new animated comedy series Jackie Chan Presents: The Adventures of La & Zy.

Slated for release in 2016, the series targeting kids six to 12 is being produced by Dasym Media, a subsidiary of Netherlands-based Dasym Investment Strategies.

The 104 x 11-minute show follows Chan as a teenager, depicting his early training in martial arts. As he makes his way towards stardom, toy panda bears La and Zy come alive in Chan’s presence, creating big problems for the aspiring martial artist.

Randy Rogel (The 7D, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain) is on-board to write the series.  Dasym principals Steve Waterman (Alvin and the Chipmunks, Stuart Little),  Charlie Coker and Bruce Stein, along with Esmond Ren and  Jackie Chan are serving as executive producers.

A companion toy line will be launched concurrently with the TV series. Conceived by former Mattel and Hasbro exec Stein, the toys will incorporate technologies and designs that emphasize the warmth and emotive qualities of the panda bears.

The new show marks Chan’s return to the small screen. His first animated series Jackie Chan Adventures, was produced from 2000 to 2005.

In 2013, Dasym Media launched a US$100-million multimedia kids and family property fund to source, acquire and invest in family properties with international appeal and an eye to exploiting untapped opportunities in China.
