Evolution USA has snagged US licensing, merchandising and promotional rights for Playmobil and the CGI-animated series Super 4, based on the iconic toy brand. The L.A. firm will premier both brands next week at Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.

Commissioned by France Télévisions, and produced by Method Animation and morgen studios, Super 4 (52 x 11 minutes) targets kids five to 11 and is currently available on Netflix in the US. It has also been picked up by broadcasters across the world.

Global master toy partner Playmobil will launch a line of Super 4 Heroes and playsets at all levels of retail this fall. Evolution then plans to take Super 4 into publishing, video games, novelty toys and games, apparel and accessories, gifts, stationery and out of home entertainment. Super 4 is being repped in Italy by Planeta Junior and in Spain/Portugal by Nottingham Forest.

For the Playmobil brand, Evolution’s first order of business will be to launch a retro line of fashion apparel, accessories, novelty and gift/paper goods targeting young adults and juniors at specialty and mid-tier retailers for spring 2016. It then intends to expand the brand into broader categories and retail channels, and launch a full-scale children’s licensing program for the 41-year-old toy brand in fall 2016.

In related Playmobil news, the Zirndorf, Germany-based toyco signed its first-ever North American inbound licensing deal earlier this week with the National Hockey League for a line of figures and playsets.
