BBC Worldwide and CBeebies have greenlit a third season of BAFTA-winning preschool series Sarah & Duck from London-based Karrot Entertainment. BBC Worldwide has also renewed its licensing and merchandising agreement for Sarah & Duck in the UK.
With an additional 40 x seven-minute episodes commissioned, the 2D-animated series will have 120 eps, guaranteeing new content featuring wide-eyed, seven-year-old Sarah and her feathered best friend on both CBeebies UK and CBeebies’ international channels until at least 2018.
Recently picked up by Japanese and South Korean pay-TV platforms as part of a CBeebies programming block, the 2014 Kidscreen Award-winner for best animated series also continues to expand its CP program in the UK.
Alongside plush toys from Posh Paws and three picture books from Puffin, the brand’s first app and third DVD were released earlier this year. Puffin is publishing two more books and a Christmas-themed DVD later this year, while a second CBeebies Special Magazine from Immediate Media is in the works. Legends Wall Art, meanwhile, will launch bedroom decor this summer, and Dreamtex is prepping a range of bedding for fall release.
