Turner Asia Pacific’s Toonami net has picked up Japanese anime sensation Yo-kai Watch, a co-pro from Dentsu, Level-5 and TV Tokyo.

Starting June 27, 65 half-hour episodes of the series based on Level-5′s Nintendo 3DS videogame franchise will start airing in India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines on the 24-hour kids channel.

Yo-kai Watch joins Toonami’s “Anime Siege” primetime block on weekends at 9:30 a.m., running alongside Beast Saga, Beywheelz, Beywarriors Beyraiderz, Inazuma Eleven Go Galaxy, Beywarriors Cyborg and Dragonball Z Kai.

Since launching in 2014, Yo-kai Watch has been enjoying significant success in its native Japan. Currently ranked number-one on TV Tokyo and with merchandise sales exceeding US$1.5 billion (not including videogames, music and publishing), the Yo-kai Watch franchise is very much poised for international expansion.

Earlier this week, Disney XD picked up broadcast rights to 26 episodes, and MarVista Entertainment signed on to distribute the show in Latin America last month, in step with Evolution USA snagging North American licensing and merchandising rights.

Nintendo of America is planning to launch a North American version of the top-selling vidgame later this year, and master toy partner Hasbro will release a Yo-kai Watch toy line in spring 2016.
