Author/illustrator and founder of China-based animation and creative design company UP Studios, Trevor Lai, has landed a deal with UK-based publisher Bloomsbury for world book rights to his IP Piggy in Love, and a second book in the series.
Lai created the animated emoji Piggy in Love at UP Studios for mobile and online users. To date, the character has been downloaded more than 50 million times. With Piggy in Love’s first book slated to be published in December 2016, Lai is now developing concepts for a short-form animated series, and is planning to seek distribution partners in the fall.
UP Studios is also working on an animated series for its BOOMi IP, and has published a 3D-animation app, BOOMiGram, also based on the property.
