Elie Dekel (pictured), co-founder and former president of Saban Brands, has left the IP-management arm of Saban Capital Group to pursue other opportunities, according to a statement from the L.A.-based company. He has not announced his next move.

Dekel will, however, stay on as a senior advisor with Saban Brands, which he helped establish in 2010. It is now home to notable kids brands like Power Rangers, Popples and Cirque Du Soleil-Luna Petunia.

In the wake of Dekel’s departure, Saban Capital Group MD Joel Andryc has stepped in to serve as interim president as a replacement is being sought.

Andryc is now working closely with Saban Brands CFO Bill Kehoe and the executive team to lead strategy and continue building the company’s portfolio of entertainment and lifestyle properties. Andryc has been with Saban since 1987 and serves on the board of directors at the Saban Theater.

Netflix recently greenlit new Saban animated series, Cirque du SoleilLuna Petunia, a co-production with Montreal, Canada-based Cirque du Soleil Média. Saban will lead both digital and physical consumer products programs for the property. And earlier this year, Saban Brands tapped Nelvana Enterprises to rep flagship brand Power Rangers in France and inked a deal with Imaginex for a line of preschool products based on the property.
