London’s CAKE Entertainment has named former Chapman Entertainment director of production and development Emily Whinnett as its new VP of creative.
At CAKE, Whinnett will work closely with the company’s creative director and CEO Tom Van Waveren on its upcoming programming and development slate and co-production activities.
Whinnett heads to CAKE after a recent stint as director of programs for London-based kids and family-focused prodco Soho Square Productions.
Prior to that, she was head of development for Belfast-based Sixteen South (Lily’s Driftwood Bay) and had previously spent eight years at Chapman, where she led the development, production and delivery of the company’s four hit preschool shows Fifi and the Flowertots, Roary the Racing Car, Little Charley Bear and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion.
And as manager of her own company Red Squirrel Entertainment, Whinnett has consulted for a number of leading industry clients including Canada’s Spin Master (Paw Patrol) and Keith Chapman Productions.
The appointment comes after CAKE’s recently announced plans to produce a new Three Stooges animated series and CGI co-production Bottersnikes and Gumbles for Netflix, CBBC and Seven Network Australia.
