A generation of mobile-toting kids are set to meet Roald Dahl’s lovably repugnant Twits, thanks to a partnership between Penguin Random House UK, Aardman Digital and Dahl’s literary estate.
The first-ever Roald Dahl interactive app, Twit or Miss, hits the Apple App store and Google Play stores today, starring Mr. and Mrs. Twit.
The app created by Aardman Digital, features artwork inspired by the illustrations of Quentin Blake, plays on the unhygienic relationship between the two main characters – picture food flying from Mr. Twit’s beard that requires immediate swatting before it reaches his wife.
The Twits book made its debut in 1980 and has since been published in 34 languages worldwide. It recently topped Dundee University’s “What Kids Are Reading” 2015 survey as the most-read book in UK primary schools.
While Dahl’s books have been adapted for the big and small screen several times over, Twit or Miss represents a first step toward developing his work for the interactive screen.
