As a number of linear television channels getting creative with their talent searches, the newly launched Cartoon Network Imagination Studios Awards is calling on UK kids ages six to 12 to bring new ideas, characters and stories to life.
The competition runs until December 1 in conjunction with Cartoon Network Imagination Studios, a newly-launched online destination where kids can discover what goes into the making of their favorite cartoons. Kids are encouraged to submit a new character, story or storyboard, or even try their hand at making a short film or animation. Ultimately, three winners will have their original creations shown on Cartoon Network.
British writer, comedian and TV presenter David Baddiel is headlining the competition. He will appear on the judging panel alongside experts from Cartoon Network, the British Film Institute (BFI) and UK-based charity Children & the Arts, which in its promotion of the competition has collaborated on the creation of a specially-designed curriculum aligned Teachers’ Toolkit.
The net says that the impetus for the competition stems from the success of original animations coming out of its L.A.-based studios, as well as a rise in fan art and creations that it regularly receives.
