DHX Brands has signed Jakks Pacific as master toy partner, excluding Europe, for its hit girl-skewing tween series Make It Pop.

Jakks’ line of dolls, plush, dress-up, role-play, electronic toys and Halloween costumes will launch at US retail in 2016. (CPLG North America brokered the deal between DHX Media’s consumer products arm and the Santa Monica, California-based toyco).

Co-created by Tommy Lynch and Nick Cannon, Make It Pop is produced in Toronto by DHX Media’s Epitome Studio. It premiered in April on Nickelodeon in the US and is currently the kidsnet’s top-ranked show for kids and girls six to 11 and the most-watched long-form content on Nick.com and on the Nick app.

Season one, which followed the adventures of three aspiring pop stars and their DJ classmate who form a K-pop band,  launched on Canada’s YTV on September 9 and will continue to roll out internationally this year. In May, Nick commissioned a 20-ep second season of the live-action show featuring original songs and performances.

As for Jakks, the toyco continues to roll after posting strong Q2 results, thanks to its licensed lines. Its Marvel Avengers XPV Remote Control Hulk Smash also just landed on TRU’s hot holiday toys list.
