French animation studio Xilam, the prodco behind animated comedies Oggy and the Cockroaches and Space Goofs, has teamed with Paris-based Boréales to launch a kid-narrated wildlife documentary series entitled If I were an Animal.

Dubbed as the first wildlife documentary told by kids for kids, If I were an Animal‘s episodes focus on the life of various animal species told from the point of view of the baby animal as it grows up.

The show is available in both short seven-minute episodes or a longer half-hour format. It will also be extended into the online space, where more animal-centric details and games surrounding will be offered.

With a budget of US$6.8 million, If I were an Animal marks Xilam’s foray into a new live-action genre, as the company looks to explore new forms of storytelling. The first episodes will be unveiled at MIPCOM next month and will premiere beforehand at MIP Junior.
