L.A.-based HTC Productions is set to launch its new 2D-animated adventure-comedy series Hank the Cowdog, based on the bestselling book series from author John Erickson.

Hank the Cowdog books have sold nearly nine million copies globally, and HTC was set up just in 2014 to exploit the property. The new animated series targets kids five to 11 and aims to combine the spirit of the American Wild West with knee-slapping humor. Focusing on Hank, who’s head of security on a family-run Texas cattle ranch, and his companion Drover, the series chronicles their attempts to keep conniving coyotes, a sinister bobcat, a sly fox and a cast of other creatures from invading the ranch.

HTC is currently developing the series in 26 x 11 minutes or 13 x 22 minutes formats with New Zealand-based producer Huhu Studios.
