American Greetings Properties, the IP and outbound licensing division of parent company American Greetings, has changed its name to American Greetings Entertainment to emphasize the company’s focus on Care Bears and the development of other multiplatform characters and entertainment IPs.

AGE has also revealed a range of new partners for the evergreen brand.

With new animated series Care Bears & Cousins set to launch on Netflix November 6, American Greetings Entertainment has lined up a fresh crop of licensing partners to join the more than 200 already on-board for the brand.

The latest licensees include Evy of California (fashion apparel), Jay Franco and Sons (bedding, bath, beach, slumber items), Accessory Innovations (bags, fashion accessories), Scholastic (books), Bendon Publishing (arts, crafts), Cra-Z-Art (kits, crafts), AHQ Pet Sac (backpack plush), Love & Madness (fashion jewelry, cell phone cases, accessories), Spaghetti Headz (hair twists), Vandor (drinkware, collectibles, totes), Smart Pet Love (Snuggle Puppy comfort plush, pet packs for pets), Wall-Ah! (room décor, home décor), MediBadge (stickers, sticker activity sheets) and Precious Moments/Care Bears co-branded collaboration (giftware, photo frames, wall décor). New products will begin hitting retail this holiday season.

In addition to traditional bricks and mortar retail, AGE continues to expand its digital strategy for Care Bears, announcing a series of new apps that will be out by the end of the year. Ten more apps are in development for 2016. The apps will consist of a variety of storytelling formats such as games, appisodes, storybooks, chat stickers and trading cards. AGE’s digital partners include Ubisoft, Plumzi, Ruckus Media Group, Playdate Digital, TwigTale, Gamepill, Budge Studios, NeonMob, Bare Tree Media and Night and Day Studios.

AGE will release a free Countdown to Christmas app in November, and five digital Welcome to Care-a-Lot books for Kindle are now available on Amazon. In the coming months, AGE will also be launching on new platforms such as Apple Watch and Apple tvOS.

Last week, AGE announced its partnership with L.A.-based Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, co-founded by Eric Towner, John Harvantine IV, Matt Senreich and Seth Green, for Netflix original series, Buddy Thunderstruck. The 12-episode stop-motion animation series will bow on the SVOD giant in 2017.
