Glendale, California-based Zag has once again tapped Bandai America as its global master toy partner, this time for its latest 3D CGI-animated series, Zak Storm.
Bandai is planning a robust integrated toy range comprised of action figures, vehicles, interactive role play and action sets.
Both Zag and Bandai will be looking to replicate the success of their partnership on Zag’s Miraculous Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, which is now rolling over in more than 120 markets globally through broadcast partners such as Nickelodeon (USA), Disney (EMEA), TF1 (France), ABC (Australia) and EBS (Korea) among others.
Commissioned by French channel Gulli, Zak Storm is a co-pro between Zag, Method Animation, SamG and Man of Action Entertainment, in partnership with Gulli and PGS Entertainment.
The story follows everyday kid Zak Storm, who gets swept into the Bermuda Triangle during a surfing competition and becomes captain of a ship of misfits. Storm gains super powers with the help of a magical talking sword, Calabrass, which he must learn how to master in order to lead his crew through the dangers of the triangle and eventually find an opening to lead them back home.
The series targeting kids six to 11 has been picked up in key territories around the world, however broadcast partners have not been announced.
