Less than a month after signing a global licensing agent, Irish multiplatform preschool series Puffin Rock has locked up French distributor Superights for international distribution.
Puffin Rock (78 x seven minutes) launched this past January on RTÉjr in Ireland and made its UK debut on Nick Jr. in May.
Since then, the series starring cute brother and sister puffin siblings has been picked up by NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden), RUV (Iceland), ABC (Australia) and Netflix (multiple territories, including the US and Japan).
Narrated by Irish comedian Chris O’Dowd, the series is set on a wild island off the Irish coast and follows the daily adventures of Oona and Baba who explore the natural environment with their parents and other animal friends.
Puffin Rock is co-produced by Irish animation studios Cartoon Saloon, Dog Ears and Penguin Random House for RTÉjr and Nick Jr. UK. Production of a second season began in January.
