Global pay-TV operator SPI International has secured a deal with Disney for first-run movie content in Central and Eastern Europe.

SPI plans to air acquired Disney content in Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic and other CEE countries through its FilmBox brand premium movie channels and FilmBox Live SVOD service.

Among the titles SPI scooped up in deal are CGI-animated films Planes 2 and Big Hero 6, Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella, and two movies from the Tinker Bell series – Tinker Bell and The Pirate Fairy, and Tinker Bell and The Legend of the NeverBeast.

In other recent first-run Disney deals, last month French pay-TV operator Canal+ re-upped its programming partnership for titles from Walt Disney Pictures, Marvel Studios, Disney-Pixar and Lucasfilms for its linear and SVOD platforms.
