Dubai-headquartered free-to-air kids channel Spacetoon is set to debut CGI-animated preschool series Mia, its first-ever co-production, across the MENA region. The toon will air in Arabic starting later this year.

Based on characters from award-winning educational software by Montreal developer Kutoka, Mia is a 39 x 11-minute co-production between Spacetoon affiliate Lalune Light Studio, Cyber Group StudiosĀ inĀ France and Canada’s Sardine Productions.

The comedy-adventure series stars an inquisitive, daring six-year-old mouse, Mia, her grandmother Mimi and a group of animal friends who all share a large home owned by humans known as The Big House on Victoria Street.

Mia is also slated to premiere on TiJi in France, SRC in Canada, on a number of European stations and on channels in Malaysia and Indonesia in the coming year.

As the TV series rolls out, a toy line that was recently introduced at BLE will make the rounds at a number of other licensing markets, including London’s Toy Fair and the Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair in January.

Mia’s licensing program is jointly handled by Spacetoon and Lalune Light Studio across a number of international territories.

Spacetoon, now in its 15th year, currently broadcasts in Arabic to more than 130 million viewers in 22 countries.
