Entertainment industry vet and former Nickelodeon and Disney senior exec Geradine Laybourne has joined the board of directors of Toronto, Canada-based 9 Story Media Group.
Laybourne’s vast experience in the television industry, coupled with her support of creator-led projects, are expected to strengthen the company’s ongoing strategy to become a leading destination for creators and show runners.
As president of Nickelodeon from 1980 to 1996, Laybourne led the team that created the kids channel, as well as Nick at Nite.
She later served as president of Disney/ABC Cable Networks before holding stints with Oxygen Media, Electronic Arts and Defy Media.
Currently, Laybourne is the chairman and co-founder of kids tech company Kandu.
9 Story’s addition of Laybourne follows the company’s recent acquisition of Ireland’s Brown Bag Films and last year’s hiring of Natalie Dumoulin as its VP of creative affairs.
