Longtime Nickelodeon show creator Chris Viscardi (The Adventures of Pete and Pete)  and exec producer (Sanjay and Craig) has been appointed to the newly created position of SVP of content development, Nickelodeon Franchise Properties.

In his new role, Viscardi will oversee creative initiatives for leading Nick franchises including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, look for potential reboots from Nickelodeon’s library of original series to develop for today’s kids and Millennials, and work with other Viacom divisions like Paramount Pictures on partnership opportunities.

Viscardi’s first development project in the works is an original TV movie based on the classic Nick series Hey Arnold!.

The project will see Hey Arnold! original creator Craig Bartlett return as writer and executive producer. Picking up where the beloved series left off in 2004, the movie will finally reveal the whereabouts of Arnold’s missing parents and tie up a number of other unresolved platlines.

In his new position, Viscardi will be based at Nick headquarters in Burbank, reporting to Nickelodeon Group president of content development and production Russell Hicks.

He currently serves as one of the executive producers on the hit series Sanjay and Craig and acts as a mentor to the show’s first-time creators and co-executive producers Jim Dirschberger and Jay Howell.

Viscardi was also a writer and producer on Bravest Warriors and co-wrote films Alvin and The Chipmunks and The Tale of Despereaux, as well as the Nickelodeon/Paramount films Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Snow Day.
