DHX Brands has added half a dozen North American licensees to its growing Teletubbies consumer products program ahead of the new series’ January launch on Nick Jr. in the US and Family Jr. in Canada.
Teletubbies North American licensing agent CPLG North America has reached deals with Spin Master (North American master toy partner), Accessory Innovations (bags, backpacks, hats), SG Company (footwear), Franco Manufacturing (juvenile bedding) and Betesh (toddler bedding).
In addition, V-Tech has extended its Teletubbies interactive toy license, which currently covers the UK, France, Germany, Benelux, Iberia and Australia, New Zealand, into North America.
CPLG North America is also in advanced talks for several other categories and more North American announcements are expected soon.
The re-imagined Teletubbies series recently launched in the UK with 60 new episodes starring Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po. Global master toy partner Character Options and a raft of UK licensees will begin rolling out products in 2016.
The series produced for Canada’s DHX Media by UK prodco Darral Macqueen is also set to debut on ABC Kids (Australia), Gulli (France) and Rai YoYo (Italy) in 2016.
Created by Anne Wood in 1997, the original Teletubbies aired in more than 120 territories in 45 languages.
