Bristol, England-based animation studio Aardman has inked a deal with Lionsgate Home Entertainment in the US for the entire Shaun the Sheep catalog. Seasons one through five of the non-dialog series have also been picked up for broadcast by Turner-owned kids channel Boomerang in the US.
All five seasons of the animated comedy, as well as its new half-hour special The Farmer’s Llamas (recently picked up by Amazon) are part of the Lionsgate deal.
The catalog will start rolling out across all major US entertainment retailers and online starting February 23.
Shaun the Sheep is currently broadcast in more than 170 territories worldwide. The Shaun the Sheep Movie debuted on the big screen this year and went on to generate US$83 million at the box office worldwide. In addition to the property’s on-screen success in 2015, momentum is continuing into 2016, when theme-park attraction Shaun the Sheep Land opens in Sweden at Nordic wilderness zoo Skånes Djurpark.
The property’s first attraction, Shaun the Sheep Experience, opened at Land’s End in Cornwall, England in February on the heels of the film’s UK launch.
