On the heels of releasing a PBS KIDS educational gaming app in November, wearable, sound-making smart toy Moff Band is hitting up CES, taking place in Las Vegas this week, with a new Pac-Man fitness app for kids.

Japanese companies Moff, the maker of Moff Band, and game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment are currently previewing Pac-Man Powered by Moff ahead of its spring launch in the US. This is the first collaboration between the two companies following BNE’s US$1.58-million (188,750,000 yen) investment in Moff in September.

Pac-Man Powered by Moff features a classic design and innovative gameplay. Players strap on a Moff Band, connect it to a smart device via Bluetooth, and then guide Pac-Man through the maze and away from ghosts with arm movements (up, down, left, right). It combines Moff’s gamified fitness platform, which brings advanced wearable technology to everyday fitness, and cloud-based wearable technology that recognizes and analyzes users’ real-time motion behaviors, with BNE’s game-development expertise.

Moff Band originally launched on Kickstarter in March 2014 and achieved its fundraising goal of US$20,000 within two days. The bands now retail for US$54.99 apiece on Amazon. The PBS KIDS Party app and original Moff app are available for free in Google Play, Apple and Amazon stores.
