Nickelodeon UK and Ireland has inked a long-term partnership with European football competition The Football League to produce a new live-action football (aka soccer) program for kids called Nick Kicks.
Terms of the deal will see Nick UK and Ireland commit to more than 100 episodes across three seasons with the series’ debut set for Nicktoons on February 6.
Nick Kicks will include coverage of all 72 Football League clubs, match highlights delivered by sports content specialist ITN Productions, humorous moments of the week, behind-the-scenes club footage, interviews of players and staff by kids, and special appearances by SpongeBob SquarePants who will take on club mascots in weekly challenges.
Popular YouTube personality and diehard football fan Roman Kemp joins BT Sports presenter Rachel Stringer as the show’s co-host and the series is expected to air during the remainder of the 2015/16 football season and during the entire 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons.
The 22-minute series, produced in association with the Football League Trust, will be supported online at nicktoons.co.uk/nickkicks where fans can access exclusive content, polls, quizzes and games.
Nick Kicks content will also be available on the Nick Play app for iOS and Android devices.
The deal comes after a broadcast agreement was secured between The Football League and Viacom International Media Network’s Channel 5.
