Montreal, Canada-based Apartment 11 has partnered with TVOKids to co-produce a new children’s history-focused series, The Mystery Files (pictured), with the Canadian pubcaster also picking up a fourth season of the prodco’s Finding Stuff Out series.
The Mystery Files will bow on TVO January 21 at 6:30 p.m., with repeat episodes airing on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. The series follows two kids and their aunt, who have inherited the files of a relative and proceed to connect events from the past to the present. The series was co-developed by Apartment 11 and TVO in relation to the new Ontario social studies curriculum, and it targets children in grades two to four. The first season will include 13 half-hour episodes.
Meanwhile, the fourth season of Apartment 11’s Finding Stuff Out is set to go into production this summer, and it will include 13 episodes. The series is aimed at kids aged six to nine, with the new season set to introduce a video-chat segment with children from across Canada.
Both The Mystery Files and Finding Stuff Out are produced with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the Shaw Rocket Fund, the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, as well as through provincial and federal tax credits.
