Former TVO preschool boss Marie McCann is returning to Kids’ CBC as executive in charge of production for Children’s Content – a title she will share with fellow incoming producer Drew Mullin.
McCann and Mullin will both report directly to Martin Markle, senior director of Children’s Content for CBC Television, who joined the Canadian pubcaster this past September after Kim Wilson exited the post of creative head of Kids’ CBC.
McCann will reprise the role she held at Kids’ CBC from 2007 to 2012. Most recently, she headed up the preschool team at TVO, where she led the creation of programs Gisele’s Big Backyard and Kids’ Canada, which both received a Gemini Award and a YMA Award of Excellence. She is also the author of children’s book Larry the Dromedary: in the Zohar Sand.
Mullin has been creating children’s media, performing arts programs and commercials for two decades. He has co-developed and directed more than a dozen multiplatform series for TVO, and he has helped to shape its kids live-programming block.
The additions of McCann and Mullin follow continued shakeups at Kids’ CBC. Most recently, in November, Lynn Oldershaw, executive in charge of production for preschool programming at the pubcaster for more than a decade, left.
