Spain’s Anima Kitchent and Mexican free-to-air broadcaster Televisa are set to produce the new animated  preschool show Cleo and Cuquín based on the 50-year-old Spanish children’s brand The Telerin Family.

The Cleo and Cuquin property, ahead of its TV launch as a 52 x seven-minute series, has already garnered more than 53 million views on YouTube over the past five months via four short clips.

In fact, the new TV series is part of a multiplatform content strategy that will encompass 10 music video clips, an app entitled Acostador, books and content for digital platforms.

Created by Jose Luis Moro Escalona, and produced by the Estudios Moro, The Telerín Family aired for 12  consecutive years in the 1960s and 1970s. In Spain, it remains as one of the most memorable images of public television.

A full licensing program is underway,  and Televisa Consumer Products has so far signed a number of agreements in Mexico with consumer brands including Lala Milk, Atlas Mattresses and the toy factory Fotorama, which recently launched its Caritierna Telerín Cleo doll.

Ánima Kitchent was  incorporated last year in Spain by Mexico’s Ánima Estudios, and it currently handles international management and marketing for the Vodka Capital brands, including Jelly Jamm, Bugsted and Pirata & Capitano.
