Toys”R”Us has upped Joe Venezia to EVP of Global Store Operations, where he will lead global initiatives while overseeing operations for the company’s more than 850 retail locations across the US.

Effective February 22, Venezia, who has held key operations and management positions at The Pantry, Walmart US, Wells Fargo Merchant Services and Procter & Gamble, will report to Toys”R”US chairman and CEO Dave Brandon while also serving as a member of the company’s Global Leadership Team.

Venezia joined the mass-market retailer two years ago as SVP of Store Operations, and he has since played a large role in the company’s ongoing transformation process that has encompassed improved customer satisfaction and putting a strong store operations team in place.

According to the latest financial report from Toys”R”Us, worldwide sales climbed by 3.7% in the five-week period from November 29 to January 2, indicating more positive signs for the once-struggling toy retailer. Despite flat sales in Q3 of 2015, the company managed to trim sales and administration costs over that period.
