The UK licensing program for the tween series The Next Step from Toronto’s Temple Street Productions is expanding thanks to four licensing deals secured by Boat Rocker Brands, a division of Temple Street’s new parent company, Boat Rocker Media.

Signed in partnership with Boat Rocker Brands’ exclusive agent for the IP, Brands with Influence, the deals will see UK retailer Sainsbury launch a dance and leisurewear clothing line designed by TVM Fashion Lab for spring/summer 2016. Meanwhile, Igloo Books will produce novels, annuals and specialty books; Signature Publishing will publish a Girls Love The Next Step magazine, and Danilo will develop calendars.

The deals arrive in advance of this spring’s UK launch of The Next Step Wild Rhythm Tour, the series’ popular live international touring production.

As The Next Step brand grows across the UK, TV audiences in the region continue to support the BAFTA-winning series. CBBC has reported record ratings for season three, and the series remains one of the highest-rated shows on the channel.

Boat Rocker Brands manages licensing for the property in North America, Mexico and Latin America, while Brands with Influence handles all other international territories.

The Next Step  is currently one of a number of successful tween/teen series including Degrassi: Next Class and Make It Pop (DHX Media), Some Assembly Required (YTV, Thunderbird Films) and Max & Shred (YTV, Nickelodeon) to come out of Canada.
