Hulu has secured the exclusive US SVOD rights to Curious George in a multi-year agreement inked with NBC Universal.
Curious George, produced by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s production arm Universal 1440 Entertainment, will begin streaming on Hulu March 31.
The deal will bring past and future seasons of the Emmy-winning series to the service, and it also includes television specials and feature-length original movies. The series, which is in its ninth season on PBS, currently consists of more than 100 episodes.
The addition of Curious George comes as the SVOD continues to ramp up its programming buys in an effort to compete for subscribers with Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Earlier this month, the company successfully negotiated its first-ever cable-TV window deal for the millennial-targeted feature film Joshy. The move has led some in the industry to believe that Hulu is in pursuit of a broader international strategy.
